Dubai Metro & nol Fare Calculator

Tell us how long you're staying and how you'll ride. We'll work out whether a Silver nol card, Red tickets or a 7-day pass is cheapest.

A Dubai Metro trip costs AED 3 to AED 7.5 on a Silver nol card, depending on how many zones you cross. The card costs AED 25, including AED 19 of credit. Red paper tickets cost AED 2 plus AED 1 more per trip. If you ride a lot for a week, a 7-day Silver pass (AED 50–110) can beat paying per trip.

A trip is one journey, even with transfers: up to 180 minutes and three transfers. RTA's journey planner shows how many zones your route crosses.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Dubai Metro?

It depends on how many zones you cross and which card you use. With a Silver nol card a trip costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two adjacent zones and AED 7.5 for more than two zones. Red tickets cost AED 4, 6 and 8.5. Gold Class costs double the regular fare.

Should I buy a Silver nol card or a Red ticket?

For more than a handful of trips, the Silver card. It costs AED 25 including AED 19 of credit, lasts five years and gets the lower fares. A Red ticket costs only AED 2, but each trip costs AED 1 more, it holds at most 10 journeys, and it lasts 90 days.

Is there a weekly pass for the Dubai Metro?

Yes. An anonymous Silver card can carry a 7-day nol pass: AED 50 for one zone, AED 80 for two zones and AED 110 for all zones. The Gold versions cost AED 100, 160 and 220. Longer passes need a registered card. The calculator above shows whether the pass beats paying per trip.

How do transfers work on the Metro, bus and tram?

One journey can last up to 180 minutes with up to three transfers, and you must switch between Metro and bus within 30 minutes. Children aged five and under ride free.

How much is a taxi in Dubai?

RTA publishes the starting fares: AED 5 for a street pickup by day and AED 5.50 at night, AED 9 to AED 13 when you book by app depending on the time, and AED 20 from Dubai's airports. The meter then adds a distance charge, waiting time and any Salik tolls. RTA does not publish the per-kilometer rate on its fare page, so we don't estimate whole trips.

Sources and how current this is

Every fare, rate and norm on this page comes from the official source below and was checked in November 2026. Operators change prices, so check the source before you rely on a number.

  • RTA — nol fares — single-trip fares by zone for Silver, Gold, Red and Gold Red tickets; 7-day pass prices; transfer rules; children free
  • RTA — Choose the right nol card — Silver and Gold cards AED 25 incl. AED 19 credit; Red ticket AED 2, 10 journeys, 90 days
  • RTA — Taxi fare — taxi starting fares by pickup type and time; tolls billed to the customer

Left out because we could not confirm it from an official source: a Dubai taxi per-kilometer rate (RTA's fare page does not publish it, so there's no trip estimator); the zone map (use RTA's journey planner for your route); any daily fare cap (RTA's fares page does not list one).
